This novella is the first foray into the world of THE IRON WITCH, the colonial cosmic horror fantasy series coming in October 2027, and an important piece of lore-building, set 1,000 years before the main novel.

Caddoc the Cruel was once a shield-biter, a fierce and ferocious warrior built for breaking shield walls. When his wife was slain during a town siege, Caddoc took the cloth and became a beekeeper at a monastery.

Eighteen years later, his former comrades-at-arms arrive at his doorstep with news that his wife isn’t dead, but alive and well in a town not a week’s ride from the monastery.

Caddoc sets off on a quest for redemption. What he doesn’t realize is that the true test for his absolution is yet to come when he encounters the lost Ninth Legion of the Roman Empire.
